In the beginning ….

A noun is just a simple word,

a person, a place, a thing.

Add a verb and an adjective and you may hear it start to sing.

When a writer pens from the heart,

emotion and sentiment abound.

The song becomes articulate and resonates all around.

One of us

One of us, standing here

Is not of human kind.

One of us, standing here

Is without soul or mind.

Hides his cold immortal breath

His heart no longer free.

Dressed in flesh, his features kind.

Looks just like you and me.

He’ll mingle amongst the crowds of men.

He’ll walk the earth in tune.

The one who had his life forsaken.

The one who left too soon.

Survival

Somewhere deep inside of you, in the very depths of your soul

is a strength that only you can know, that makes the real you whole.

People may be cruel or harsh, try their best to bring you down.

The negativity encompasses you, until you feel like you’re going to drown.

And sometimes when you’re really sad and your hearts full of despair

its easy to just give up hope and forget your strength is there.

But don’t give up faith or lose heart and never allow them to win.

Don’t ever let them close enough to break the spirit within.

Take a moment, and close your eyes and think of who you are

Think of the greatness inside of you and how you’ve survived so far.

Then search your soul and find your strength, the strength that pulls you through.

The strength that keeps you going, the strength inside of you.
